OUR STORY

Welcome! I'm Danielle, Lace & Liberty founder. When I was shopping for my own wedding dress, I thought I'd likely find one right away. Little did I know, many many bridal appointments later, I still couldn’t find "the one". It turns out I'd often like the top of one dress, but the skirt of another, or wanted to customize some aspect of a dress that couldn’t be done. Since I wasn't able to find my dream dress, I thought why not design my own?

With the help of an experienced dress maker, my gown design journey was one of the most fun experiences during wedding planning! I loved choosing lace & fabrics and working with an expert in honing in my vision.

This was how the idea for Lace & Liberty was born, and I want to bring this exceptional experience to every bride, for you to enjoy this experience and have a hand in designing a gown so meaningful.

Welcome to our special corner of the bridal world. We are so happy you're here!

We are proud to be a women owned and fully women operated business. Our talented designers design every one of our gowns, from the ones in our core collection to working with you on bringing your vision to life.

We partner with small artisan workshops and take care of the entire process of your gown starting from creation with a sketch, sourcing fabrics, creating patterns, and hand sewing each gown. Whether you’re working with us virtually on a custom gown design or visiting us in person at our SF studio, we want your experience to be stress free, personalized and most of all, fun!

Design & Craftmanship

Every dress is a unique piece of art. We start by brainstorming all of the individual elements and how they all go together. We then choose fabrics & cut that best suit the gown style, considering aspects such as stretch and weight. Depending on structure and support, design elements need to ensure that we can meet these expectations on a real body.

Then of course there’s lace! There’s so many different types of lace - floral, geometric, beaded, 3D, chantilly, color - the list goes on. One of the most fun times for the team is exploring and sourcing new lace options!

All of our gowns are hand made and our talented seamstresses hand sew each individual lace piece to create the intended design, sometimes it can be up to 50-60 pieces! When your custom gown is being made with us, we’ll also be taking you behind the scenes to see your beautiful gown in progress!

MEET THE TEAM

Danielle Wen
Founder

Enamored with Sailor Moon’s wedding dress as a young girl, Danielle has always loved bridal fashion. Following her own wedding gown design experience, she felt this personalized gown shopping experience was so wonderful but not accessible to most brides, so she set about making this experience a possibility! Starting the business from the ground up she vetted every one of our workshop and vendor partners and built out an experience that had the bride’s needs in mind first. In her spare time, she’s likely chasing after her 2y/o toddler and trying to keep her high energy pup out of trouble.

Alison Chang
Bridal Designer

Ali has loved weddings and gowns since she was small. She was always drawing and imagining the beautiful dresses in her sketch books (even during class!). With years of experience in the bridal industry and a B.S. in Apparel Design, she has been using her passion for design & skills to help brides envision and create their dream gowns. In her spare time, Ali loves to watch anime and historical dramas, as well play with her 85 lb. German Shephard, Kuma.

Rozita Zadeh
Bridal Designer

Her interest in fashion started in Grandma's studio. Rozita learned sewing and pattern making from her grandma, who was a math teacher and enjoyed making clothes for her little granddaughter and her dolls. Being a designer has been her aspiration for as long as she can remember. Rozita, a graduate of Fine Art faculty of Tehran university, launched her clothing line in 2010 in her studio in Tehran. After immigrating to the United States, she continued to pursue her design interest and hone in her skills in the field of wedding dresses! She enjoys photography, listening to jazz music, cooking, and watching documentaries.

Mia Lin
Production Manager

A romantic at heart, Mia has loved art since childhood. She’s always had a strong sense for color and entered art school to study painting & fine art at the age of 12. She earned her bachelor degree in costume design and often created imaginative fashion forward gowns in school, sewing them by hand and even modeling them down the catwalk! She believes every bride deserves to be a shining star on her wedding day, wearing the most unique gown. In her spare time Mia loves to swing dance and lose herself in the world of Jazz. Retro and fashion are two indispensable factors in her DNA.
